General Description
K-BIO® CE PRESERVATIVE is a combination of ethyleneglycol -hemiformal and chloromethylisothiazolone /
methylisothiazolone (ratio 3:1). It is high performance liquid biocide recommended for use in: aqueous coatings,
polymer dispersions, filler suspensions, pigment slurries, solutions and dispersions of adhesive and thickeners,
concrete admixture, detergents, cleaning agents, polishes, ceramic glazes and as a tank side additive for diluted
metalworking fluids.
The two active groups complement each other in the spectrum of efficacy and also in the time required for the effect.
The efficacy of K-BIO® CE PRESERVATIVE extends to gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, moulds and
yeasts.

Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) were determined by serial dilution of K-BIO® CE PRESERVATIVE
are shown in the table. The MIC indicates the concentration at which growth of the test organism is completely
inhibited under laboratory condition.

Use Recommendation
The amount of K-BIO® CE PRESERVATIVE required to provide protection to a formulation depends on the
susceptibility and potential contamination sources of a product. Our experience suggests that a level of K-BIO® CE
PRESERVATIVE of 0.03 – 0.3% by weight in the final formulation will protect aqueous products. It is recommended
that various levels of K-BIO® CE PRESERVATIVE be tested in the product to determine appropriate use levels. To
arrange for microbiological testing of your product to determine optimum use levels, contact your CDI
representative.
